White vinegar works because its acetic acid breaks down detergent residue and mineral deposits that cling to towel fibers. These invisible buildups are often the real cause of stiffness and trapped odors. Instead of masking smells, vinegar neutralizes them, leaving towels genuinely clean rather than artificially scented.

Using this method couldn’t be simpler. Wash your towels as usual with detergent, then add half a cup of distilled white vinegar during the rinse cycle.
