Grace, my fiancé Lucas’s eight-year-old daughter, captured my heart from the very first moment. At first, she was reserved—calm, serious, and wise beyond her years. Earning her trust took time, but every moment was worth it.
While I painted my nails, she would quietly sit beside me, occasionally lowering her head to ask gentle, curious questions. For six months, she called me “Miss Julia.” Then, one afternoon, she took my hand, looked up with sincere eyes, and asked, “May I call you Mama-Jules?” My heart shattered—in the best way.

That night, as Lucas held me under fairy lights, Grace played tag across the lawn—hatless, free, and joyful.
“She’s amazing,” I whispered.
“She’s yours now, too,” Lucas said, kissing my forehead.

Together, we founded The Love Wig Foundation, making wigs for children with hair loss. Grace became the heart of the foundation, helping design wigs, writing notes, and sharing the cause with others.
Even as an eight-year-old, she understood a truth many take a lifetime to learn: true love means giving without expecting anything in return.
Years later, as a teenager, Grace hugged me before a charity event. “See, Mom? Love makes everything better.”
