Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility Leaves Multiple Injured

Three people were shot early Thursday morning at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas, Texas.

Gunman Dead, Victims Confirmed

Authorities report that the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No ICE agents were injured.

Police responded to the incident around 6:40 a.m. local time.

Officials Respond

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressed the shooting, stating that the motive remains unknown. She tweeted:

“There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Vice President JD Vance also reacted, condemning what he called the “obsessive attack on law enforcement,” particularly ICE. He added, “I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”

Shooter Possibly a Sniper

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told reporters that the shooter may have acted as a sniper, allegedly firing from an elevated position in an adjacent building, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Facility Details

The Dallas facility primarily processes detainees before transfer to larger detention centers. A former senior ICE official told CNN that it typically holds a few dozen people at a time.

Reports indicate that some of the victims were detainees present at the facility during the shooting.
