Meghan Markle Confirms She’s Changed Her Name

Meghan Markle has revealed that she now goes by a different name in her daily life. Speaking with actress Mindy Kaling on her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, she corrected Kaling for calling her “Meghan Markle.” “It’s so funny too that you keep saying Meghan Markle,” she said. “You know I’m Sussex now.”

Public Reaction

Fans reacted strongly to the news, with some criticizing Markle. One person wrote, “Good Lord! She wants the name but doesn’t want anything to do with the family.” Others defended her, saying, “The hate for Meghan Markle is ridiculous. You’ve no real reason to hate her.”

Meaning Behind the Change

Markle explained that adopting “Sussex” became important after having children. “You have kids and you go, ‘No, I should share my name with my children,’” she said, calling it her “little family name.”

Keeping the Sussex Title

Despite stepping down as senior royals, Meghan and Prince Harry have retained their Sussex title. “A huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex,” Markle told People magazine. “It means a lot to me.”
