Meg Ryan stopped acting to focus on her children: This is her today

Meg Ryan, celebrated as one of America’s sweethearts for her iconic roles in romantic leads during the 80s and 90s, has left an indelible mark on Hollywood. Known for her blonde shag haircut and memorable performances in classics like “Sleepless In Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail,” Ryan’s star shone brightly for two decades.

Born in 1961 in Fairfield, Connecticut, Ryan’s journey into acting began with her appearance in TV commercials and soap operas. Despite initial hurdles, she gained recognition with a role in “As the World Turns.” Choosing to pursue acting over journalism, her breakthrough came with the blockbuster “Top Gun” in 1986. Her personal life also underwent changes, including a marriage to co-star Anthony Edwards.

Meg Ryan’s ascent to fame reached new heights with the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally…” in 1989, showcasing her versatility as a comic actress. Subsequent successes, including “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993) and “You’ve Got Mail” (1998), solidified her status as the queen of rom-coms. However, the 2000s presented challenges, both professionally and personally.

In 2000, rumors of an affair with Russell Crowe circulated during her separation from husband Dennis Quaid. The tabloids scrutinized her personal life, revealing the complexities of her marriage. Despite the publicized divorce, Ryan and Quaid maintained a bond through their son, Jack Quaid, who followed in his parents’ footsteps as an actor.

In the mid-2000s, Ryan adopted a 14-month-old baby girl from China named Daisy, expanding her family. While career setbacks occurred, including a pause from acting after her divorce, Ryan remained focused on her family. Her last significant role came in 2008’s “The Women.”

Meg Ryan’s public appearances decreased in recent years, and she explored writing romantic comedies while helping produce a show for NBC. In 2019, she expressed her desire to direct and worked on an e-commerce project. Although not frequently seen on the red carpet, she maintains an active presence on Instagram.

At 61, Meg Ryan continues to make an impact, showcasing her enduring beauty and talent. Despite the challenges, there are hints of a potential comeback, emphasizing her resilience and determination. While her prominence may not reach the heights of the ’90s, Meg Ryan’s contributions to film and her everlasting impression on audiences remain undeniable.
