Meet Amy Baier, Bret Baier’s stunning wife of 20 years and mother of their two sons – Their story

Amy and Bret Baier: A Strong Marriage Built on Family and Philanthropy

For over 20 years, Amy Baier and Fox News anchor Bret Baier have built a solid family and dedicated themselves to charitable giving. What began as a friendship in the early 2000s quickly turned into a lifelong partnership.

Amy Baier’s Early Life and Career: From Chicago to New York

Amy grew up just outside Chicago in a lively household with three brothers, including her twin, Danny. She loved sports and excelled in tennis. Her competitive spirit shaped her drive from a young age.

After high school, she attended Southern Methodist University in Texas, earning a degree in communication. She then moved to New York City, working as a media planner for Calvin Klein and pursuing a fashion career. However, the events of 9/11 changed everything. When her lease ended, she returned to Chicago and shifted to the medical field, which had deep family ties. She joined Eli Lilly’s neuroscience retail division.

A Love Story Spanning Cities

Amy and Bret’s romance began with a blind date at a Rolling Stones concert in October 2002. At the time, Bret frequently traveled for work, covering assignments in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. Despite living apart—Amy in Chicago and Bret in Washington, D.C.—they made it work. Bret often flew in on weekends to see her.

Their relationship progressed quickly. Over Thanksgiving weekend in 2003, Bret proposed after a family dinner. Exactly two years after their first date, they married in Chicago on October 9, 2004.

Family Life and a Heartfelt Challenge

Their first son, Paul Francis Baier, was born on June 29, 2007, named after Amy’s father. However, joy turned to concern when doctors discovered five congenital heart defects within 24 hours of his birth. Paul underwent major heart surgery as a newborn and continues to receive treatment for congenital heart disease.

Paul’s journey deeply impacted the Baiers. Bret shared how their son’s resilience reshaped their outlook in his book Special Heart. Amy echoed this sentiment, telling PEOPLE in 2024, “In the Baier family, we have a saying: ‘Gratitude is the attitude.’ Paul taught us that.”

Their second son, Daniel Bret Baier, arrived on July 10, 2010, completing their family of four.

Amy Baier’s Commitment to Philanthropy

For over 15 years, Amy has passionately advocated for children’s healthcare. She plays a vital role at Children’s National Hospital Foundation, serving on its board and currently acting as chair. Her fundraising efforts have directly supported children receiving life-saving medical care.

“Paul’s condition opened our eyes to children’s health,” Amy told DC Magazine. “We believe all children deserve the same healthcare, no matter their financial situation.”

She and Bret remain dedicated to ensuring every child at Children’s National receives top-quality care. Amy stresses that the hospital saved Paul’s life, motivating her continued efforts.

Beyond healthcare, Amy actively supports cultural and charitable organizations. She contributes to the National Museum of Women in the Arts and serves on the Kennedy Center’s National Committee for Performing Arts.

Amy Baier’s journey reflects resilience, love, and a commitment to giving back. From supporting her family to championing children’s healthcare, she continues to make a lasting impact.
