A 60-year-old actress who appeared in a small role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was killed this week after being struck by a vehicle in Midtown Manhattan, according to police and sources.
Wendy Davis, who performed under the stage name Wenne Alton Davis, was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street just before 9 p.m. Monday when she was hit by a driver making a left turn, per the New York Post. The Forest Hills, Queens, resident suffered severe head and body injuries and was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she later died, police said.
Per TMZ, the 61-year-old man driving the black 2023 Cadillac XT6 SUV remained at the scene after the crash and has not been charged. Police said he struck Davis while making a left turn onto West 53rd Street, and she was legally crossing the street with the right of way at the time.
Davis appeared as a police officer in Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Her IMDb credits also include roles in the 2011 Michael Fassbender film Shame and the 2004 short film Ladies Room, among others.
Her friend Edward Reynoso told the New York Daily News that the loss feels even more devastating because of a conversation they had just hours before the accident. Reynoso said Davis told him, “I love you, I appreciate you,” a moment he later admitted felt unusual at the time—almost as if she were saying goodbye.
