A man who has accomplished the amazing achievement of travelling to every nation on Earth without using a plane has described the worst place he has ever visited.
Danish traveler In October 2013, Thor Pedersen set out on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to try to visit every country without taking a plane.
And although he had intended to finish the challenging task in four years, a worldwide epidemic and numerous other obstacles forced Thor to extend his journey.
However, Thor became the first person to visit every country on Earth without using an aircraft in May 2023 after arriving in the Maldives.
Even if Thor has travelled to many amazing nations, the author will not be hurrying back to one location in particular.

The ‘worst country in the world’ will soon be ‘under the ocean’
Thor claims that Tuvalu, a British Commonwealth nation, is the “worst country in the world.”
He told UNILAD: “I do give Tuvalu a hard time. The reason for that is not because the people weren’t nice, because they were, it’s beautiful and there’s lots of good, but I just struggle with all the money that’s sent to Tuvalu to keep that running as a country.”
“What is Tuvalu doing for the world? Just relocate these people to wherever they want to go, but stop sending money. Plus Tuvalu is going to be under the ocean in 70 years, 100 years, something within that.”
“So if we start building factories so there’s work for them, and build a nice hospital so they can get treated there, and really invest in Tuvalu, then it’s all going to be underwater in the future anyway.”
“I tend to think that’s the worst country in the world.”
Where is Tuvalu?
There are about 11,500 people living in Tuvalu, a group of nine small islands in the South Pacific.
Since gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1978, the nation’s political leaders have faced numerous challenges.
None more so than global warming, since the United Nations has declared Tuvalu to be “extremely vulnerable” to climate change due to rising sea levels.
Thor mentions one specific state as another bad point of his tour, proving that Tuvalu is not the only nation he dislikes.
To give you a hint, in the last few weeks, an American who now goes by Leo has entered the nation to take charge of operations.
Thor told UNILAD: “There’s a country that I do think is a terrible country, which is the Vatican. So, it’s not about religion, it’s about what’s going on. No children are born there, you can’t book a room for the night, there’s no restaurants, and they tell you to leave of an evening and come back the next day.”
“It’s the only country in the world where they would go like, ‘Oh yeah, time’s up, we’re closed. It’s 11, come back tomorrow’. Rubbish country.”
Rome, the capital of Italy, encircles Vatican City, a tiny autonomous city-state.
It is home to the pope and serves as the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It also has its own administration, laws, and currency.
