“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,” the family wrote on Instagram.

In 2024, Carpani told 7News she left Australia to pursue a career in the United States. She didn’t want to be known only as “Jodi from McLeod’s Daughters.” She aimed to carve out a new path in Hollywood.

Her ambition paid off. She appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles, The Glades, and the 2020 Ben Affleck film The Way Back. She also returned occasionally to Australian TV, most recently joining Home and Away in a recurring role.
