Legendary Italian Fashion Designer Passed Away At Age 91

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, one of the most famous names in global fashion, has d**d at 91, according to Reuters.

Armani, celebrated for defining modern Italian style and elegance, built a brand that blended creativity with sharp business skills. Over the past five decades, he grew his company into a powerhouse, generating around 2.3 billion euros ($2.7 billion) in yearly revenue.

“With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the fashion house said in a statement. In this company, we have always felt like part of a family.”

“We, the employees and the family members, who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”

The Armani company announced that a funeral chamber will be open in Milan on Saturday and Sunday, the city where Armani lived, with a private funeral to be held later on a date that has not been disclosed.

He had been in poor health for a while and, for the first time in his career, was unable to attend his brand’s shows at Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week per Reuters. in June. Armani stayed the sole owner of his company, running it closely with trusted longtime colleagues and family members.

Giorgio Armani, born July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy, became one of the most influential fashion designers of all time. Famous for his sleek and timeless style, he changed the way people dressed by creating clothes that were both elegant and easy to wear.

After starting his career in the 1960s, Armani launched his own label in 1975 with his partner Sergio Galeotti. What began as a clothing brand grew into a global empire, expanding into accessories, fragrances, cosmetics, home goods, and even luxury hotels.

His big moment came in the 1980s, when his relaxed suits and minimalist designs redefined business fashion. The “Armani look” became a worldwide symbol of power and sophistication. He also made his mark in Hollywood, dressing stars like Richard Gere in American Gigolo and countless celebrities on the red carpet.

Armani stood out in the fashion world for keeping his company independent, building one of the largest privately owned fashion houses with billions in revenue. This allowed him to stay true to his vision and maintain full creative control.

Beyond fashion, he supported medical research, humanitarian efforts, and disaster relief, making him a respected philanthropist as well as a designer.
