Legendary American Heavy Metal Group Reveals Upcoming Farewell Tour

There’s huge news for Megadeath fans.

The good news is that the band is working on an album and will be going on tour in 2026.

The bad news is that this will be their final album and their farewell tour.

On their website, Dave Mustaine wrote a statement that explains, “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional. Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.”

Wanting to decide when to end his career instead of letting fate decide, Mustaine has decided that the time is now, but it’s not easy to say goodbye. He wrote, “I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.”

Mustaine urged fans to come see them on tour, calling it perfect timing for he tour. He wrote, “We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now.” He added, “We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour.”

Then, Mustaine announced that it is not only their farewell tour, but their upcoming album is also their final studio album.

Anticipating this to be unwelcome news to fans, he tried to encourage them not to be upset at the news but to be happy at all that they have accomplished and to think of the album and tour as a celebration. He wrote, “Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.  We have done something together that’s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world.”

Mustaine ended the statement with final cheerful words and expressing gratitude to fans. He wrote, “The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.”
