Latest Poll Reveals How Trump’s Base Views His Performance After 6 Months

New Polls Reveal What Americans Really Think of Trump — Six Months Into Second Term

Approval Ratings Take a Hit

A fresh wave of polls shows Donald Trump’s approval ratings have dipped to their lowest point of his second term. According to a new ActiVote poll conducted between June 1 and 30, only 45% of adults approve of Trump’s performance, while 52% disapprove—putting his net approval at -7.

That figure marks the worst net rating of his current term so far, although it still tops the lowest average from his first term, which sank to 41%.

Controversy Clouds the White House

These numbers come after several high-profile controversies. Trump recently unveiled his “Big Beautiful Bill,” triggering a public feud with Elon Musk. The spat escalated when Trump threatened to deport the billionaire.

Adding to the turmoil, Trump’s remarks about deporting U.S. citizens and the launch of a Florida immigration center dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” left many Americans stunned.

Meanwhile, global tensions have risen following a U.S. missile strike on Iranian nuclear sites, and Los Angeles saw vi*lent anti-ICE protests, further polarizing public opinion.

Swing Voters Shift

Despite a solid base of support from men, rural voters, and those aged 50–64, the ActiVote poll suggests that key swing voters may be pulling away.

Another Quinnipiac University poll released last month paints a similar picture:

  • 38% approve of Trump’s overall job performance

  • 54% disapprove

Respondents evaluated Trump’s handling of critical issues, including the economyimmigration, and the Russia-Ukraine w*r. The results were not encouraging.

Only 34% support how Trump is managing the Ukraine conflict.

Public Confidence in Foreign Policy Falters

Polling analyst Tim Malloy summed it up bluntly:

“As the Russia-Ukraine w*r grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.”
