Kate Gosselin has spoken out after her son Collin Gosselin’s recent social media post about family tensions.
On August 7, Collin shared a TikTok video with a throwback photo of himself and his seven siblings — twins Mady and Cara, and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, and Joel.
In the caption, he reflected on his strained relationship with them, writing, “Forced apart, pitted against each other.”
A screenshot of Collin’s post later appeared in the comments of one of Kate’s TikTok videos, where the former reality star gave a short reply. Collin has long been distant from most of his family, except for his father Jon Gosselin and sister Hannah.
“He knows why..,” Kate Gosselin posted with a crying emoji.

In his original post, Collin Gosselin shared a throwback photo of his siblings dressed in matching outfits, captioned, “Born to be a team, us against the world,” with Adele’s “Hometown Glory” playing in the background.
He then added a second photo, this time a selfie, writing, “Forced to do it alone, and wonder every day what our lives could’ve looked like.”
“All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids?”Collin wrote. “I will always love them more than anything. The tears I shed behind closed doors, thinking about the memories we could’ve shared. I love you guys.”
Collin and Hannah Gosselin were both missing when Kate celebrated the sextuplets’ 21st birthday in May. Kate posted a photo dining out with Alexis, Leah, Joel, and Aaden, while Hannah marked the day separately with her dad, Jon Gosselin, and his fiancée, Stephanie Lebo.
The Gosselin family, once known from Jon & Kate Plus 8, has had a strained relationship for years. In 2022, Collin told Entertainment Tonight he hadn’t spoken to his siblings in “five or six years.” The following year, he and Hannah appeared on Vice’s Dark Side of the 2000s, where Collin claimed his mom took out her anger on him during her divorce from Jon in 2009.

After the split, Kate was awarded full custody of the kids and later revealed to People in 2016 that Collin had been placed in a residential program for children with special needs.
In the Vice series per the Today show, Collin Gosselin said that “being in an institution really took a toll on me mentally” and accused his mom of being abusive at home — claims Kate Gosselin “firmly denied,” according to Vice.
Collin explained that when he didn’t want to film for the show, he would shut down, while his sister Hannah recalled their mom’s response was to keep him apart from the rest of the family.
In an interview with The Sun, Collin Gosselin, now 20, opened up about his difficult childhood, saying he was treated differently from his seven siblings by his mom, Kate. Despite growing up on one of the biggest reality shows of its time, he said he often felt isolated and alone.
Collin claimed there were times when his hands and feet were zip-tied, and he was locked in a basement room with only a bed and cameras, sometimes for an entire day. At age 11, he said he was admitted to a mental health facility after being diagnosed with several behavioral conditions — diagnoses he insists were false.
To support his claims, Collin shared private medical records with The U.S. Sun, showing he has no diagnosed mental or behavioral disorders.
