Karoline Leavitt Announces Second Pregnancy
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed she is expecting her second child and, in a surprising twist, gave a nod to her boss, Donald Trump, during the announcement.
Leavitt, 28, shared the news on Instagram, announcing that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 59, are expecting a baby girl in May 2026. Alongside festive photos showing her growing baby bump and a shirt that read “Baby sis,” she wrote:
“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for—baby girl coming in May 2026.”
Heartfelt Moments and Unexpected Shoutouts
In a follow-up post, Leavitt shared a photo of her husband holding their one-year-old son, Niko, by a Christmas tree. She captioned it:
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
Then, unexpectedly, she pivoted from heartfelt to political:
“I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House.”
She closed the post with excitement: “2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”
Balancing Motherhood and Politics
Leavitt made history as the youngest White House press secretary. She gave birth to Niko in July 2024 while working on Trump’s campaign—just days before an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
The chaotic moment forced her to cut her maternity leave short and return to work early. Speaking to The Christian Broadcasting Network, she shared the emotional toll of juggling her high-profile job and parenting:
“I think every working mother understands the demands. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, there is a sense of guilt. But I spend every second I can with my son when I’m home on weekends and evenings.”
Bringing Her Son Along
Throughout the 2024 campaign, Leavitt managed to work with Niko by her side. Initially, she worked from home, telling Post Run High podcast:
“I could go downstairs for a quick TV hit and then attend to my child.”
Later, in the office, she brought Niko with her. “He was always with me throughout the campaign. We just made it work,” she said.
Niko has since become a familiar face on her social media, appearing in beach trips, a White House turkey photo, and even a Halloween pumpkin costume.
Family Support and Career Ambitions
Leavitt praised her husband’s support in an interview with Megyn Kelly:
“He’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career. Becoming a mother in the midst of this chaotic political world has been the best thing I could imagine—it gives you great perspective.”
The White House confirmed Leavitt will continue in her role after giving birth, though details about her maternity leave have not been provided, according to The New York Times.
