Two young brothers, Bowyn Miller, 7, and Banx McAmis, 4, tragically lost their lives near Hamm Creek Park along the Brazos River in Johnson County, Texas. While enjoying a sunny afternoon by the water, the boys suddenly went missing, sparking immediate panic among their family and nearby park visitors.
Emergency crews arrived swiftly, combing the shoreline and water for nearly two hours before recovering the children’s bodies. Sadly, both boys were pronounced dead at the scene. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the drownings were accidental, with no evidence of foul play. Lt. Keven George stressed the tragic speed of the incident, stating, “It only takes a moment,” highlighting how quickly ordinary outings can turn disastrous.
Bowyn, a second-grader at Plum Creek Elementary School, was remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of karate, video games, and the outdoors. Banx, full of energy and charm, adored Ninja Turtles and always found ways to bring joy to those around him. Their bond was unbreakable, and their loss has left the community in deep mourning.
In response, neighbors and local residents organized vigils, placed flowers by the river, and contributed to a GoFundMe campaign, raising over $35,000 to help the family cover funeral and memorial expenses. This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance around bodies of water. Authorities continue to urge parents and guardians to supervise children closely near rivers, lakes, or any open water, ensuring that moments of fun never turn into tragedy.
