John Travolta is perhaps one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. He has had a stellar career, delivering hit after hit. In his personal life, he married actress Kelly Preston.

The couple spent many happy years together before tragedy struck. After 19 years of marriage, Kelly Preston passed away due to breast cancer in 2020. The actress left behind her husband and two children.

John Travolta’s son, Benjamin Travolta just celebrated his 14th birthday. The special occasion was marked by his family which includes his actor dad and sister, Ella Bleu Travolta.

When his father posted a wish for his son on Instagram, the world joined in and, in the process, noticed how much Benjamin had grown!

In the picture, the young boy dressed in a black t-shirt was receiving affectionate licks on his face from the family dog. The caption read, “Happy birthday my Ben. Your dad loves you! And so does Peanut!”

In his sister’s post, he is sitting on a boat and looking out into the distance. In the background, a beautiful sunset and mountain landscape are visible. In the picture, the young boy wore a blue t-shirt and his hair was slightly longer than in the picture his dad posted. She wrote in the caption, “Happy Birthday Benjamin!!!!!! I love you❤️”

Of course, everyone who saw the post flocked to the comment section to wish the young Benjamin a very happy birthday. Apart from that, they also noticed how grown-up he looked.

“Happy Birthday Ben 🎂🥳🎉you are looking so grown up 🧑🏼Peanut is giving you sweet kisses! 🐶🥰,” one comment said.

Another read, “Happy 14th Birthday Ben! You have become such a handsome young man.🥳,” while another fan marveled.

Another surprised fan wrote, “Omg i didn’t even recognize him. He has changed in the last few years. Happy 14th birthday, don’t be sad. Enjoy life. Embrace it every day be thankful that you get to wake up every day and you have an amazing father and an amazing sister. 🙏🏼🤍✨️🎂 .”

Some comments also referenced Kelly Preston, Benjamin’s late mother. Some people even compared him to his mother writing, “Such a beautiful mix of the two of you. Happy birthday precious Ben! I hope you have a beautiful day today! Love.”

Travolta and his children make sure to keep the memory of Kelly Preston alive by posting about her often. John and his daughter Ella both regularly post pictures of her on social media. The ‘Grease’ actor posted his late wife in a post for Mother’s Day.

He posted three images of Kelly as she doted on her three children, including one of her with her son Jett Travolta who passed away when he was 16 years old. The caption read, “Happy Mother’s Day Kelly. We love you we miss you.”

When Kelly passed
Kelly passed away in 2020 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57 years old at the time of her passing. A year after she passed, Travolta revealed the heartbreaking conversation he had to have with his children following their mother’s death.

When Travolta appeared on Kevin Hart’s Peacock show “Hart to Heart,” he shared a moment between him and his son Benjamin. The two of them were out for a father-son walk when Benjamin said to his father, “Because mom passed away, I’m afraid you’re going to.”
“I said, ‘Well, it’s a very different thing.’ And I went through the differences between my longevity and her limited life. I said, ‘But you know, Ben … you always love the truth and I’m going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay,” John recalled saying.

The actor talked about the deaths of both Kelly and his son Jet who passed when he was only 16 years old. He noted how both of them passed before their time.

“But who’s to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can. So let’s look at it like it’s part of life. You don’t know exactly. You do your best at trying to live the longest you can,” John recalled explaining to his son.

John has been parenting his children alone since his wife’s death. He is a doting father who regularly posts pictures of his children on his social media accounts. For Father’s Day, he posted a picture of him and his kids in a vintage car with the caption, “To all the fathers out there! Happy Father’s Day!”

When Benjamin came into their lives
Benjamin was born to Kelly Preston after three years of trying. At the time the actress was in her 40s and had not considered the complications that might accompany a late pregnancy. She said of it, “I never thought that would be me at all. So, I think we’re just really happy that we’re so fortunate.”

“It’s so wonderful to bring another child into the world and to look at things through his eyes. He’s so innocent and so, just so sweet,” Kelly said at the time. They named him Benjamin because they liked it for boys and men. “It’s also a really gentle name,” said Kelly.

The couple was happy at the new addition to their family since the passing of Jett had left a void in their lives and home. Kelly witnessed her son till his pre-teen years when she died in 2020. John announced her passing on Instagram on July 13, 2020, with a post. He thanked the medical centers and staff who helped treat his wife including the MD Anderson Cancer Centre. He thanked his friends and family for their support. He wrote, “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”
