Joe Biden’s spokesperson shares cancer news, leaving supporters saddened

Biden’s Health Update Shocks Supporters

Joe Biden’s spokesperson has shared a rare update on the former president’s health. Earlier this year, the 82-year-old revealed he was battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He explored multiple treatment options following his diagnosis.

Biden’s Statement on Cancer

In May, Biden opened up about his condition, saying:

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

At the time, doctors confirmed the cancer had already spread to his bones.

Stepping Back from Public Life

Biden left office in January as the oldest U.S. president in history. During his first term, questions about his health frequently surfaced. These concerns contributed to his late decision to end his re-election campaign, with Kamala Harris stepping in as the Democratic nominee.

For years, Biden has championed cancer research, following the loss of his eldest son, Beau, to brain cancer in 2015. Recently, he has largely withdrawn from public appearances, raising further speculation about his well-being.

Political Tensions and Accusations

Current President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Biden. Trump accused Biden’s advisers of misleading the public about his mental state and even launched an investigation into Biden’s behavior during his administration. Biden dismissed these claims as “ridiculous,” arguing they distract from Trump’s agenda to expand tax incentives for the wealthy.

Treatment and Outlook

Biden’s spokeswoman confirmed he is receiving hormone therapy and radiation treatment for prostate cancer. She added:

“The cancer can be effectively managed because it seems to be hormone-sensitive.”

Earlier this year, Biden described his regimen:

“It’s just a matter of taking a pill, one particular pill, for the next six weeks and then another one.”

Despite the aggressive diagnosis, the outlook remains positive. Biden says he feels good and that the treatment is progressing well.

Context on Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the U.S., according to the National Institutes of Health.
