Joe Biden hits back at Donald Trump’s investigation — but the President isn’t backing down

An intense conversation began with a question.

In a recent accusation, President Donald Trump raised eyebrows by suggesting that Joe Biden might have relied on an autopen—a mechanical device that replicates signatures—instead of personally signing all executive orders during his presidency.

Trump’s comments tapped into broader worries that he and others have long voiced regarding Biden’s leadership and suitability for office, even though he provided no concrete proof.

“What does the man in the Oval Office look like if someone else is signing executive orders?” According to reports, Trump told supporters.

“I Made the Decisions,” Biden replies.

Biden, the former president, responded to the remark.

He told ABC News, “To be clear, I made the decisions during my presidency.” “I decided on the legislation, proclamations, executive orders, and pardons. The idea that I didn’t is absurd and untrue.

Trump’s demand for a mental fitness investigation was also rejected by him, who described it as “nothing more than a mere distraction.”

Use of Autopens: Lawful but Still Debatable

According to Justice Department guidelines, autopen use is permitted as long as the president gives his approval, despite the fact that it is rarely discussed in public. According to reports, a number of previous presidents have used it for everyday tasks, especially when traveling.

However, legality is not the subject of Trump’s criticism. Perception is key. Trump’s challenge reflects voters’ lingering doubts about whether Biden was completely in charge during his presidency, in a time when control and image are just as important as policy.

From Best Wishes to Monitor

Trump struck a different tone not long ago. In 2024, after Biden was diagnosed with cancer, Trump publicly expressed his support:

The news of Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis saddens Melania and me. We wish Joe a speedy and full recovery and send our warmest regards to Jill and the family.

It was an uncommon instance of civility that garnered media attention.

However, the scrutiny of the previous administration is only growing now that Trump is back in the White House and the campaign rhetoric is heating up once more. Trump has once again steered the conversation and reminded voters that he isn’t afraid to challenge the narrative, regardless of whether his autopen accusation is successful or not.
