JD Vance’s Mic Slip: A New Scandal
Hot Mic Moment
JD Vance, now the Vice President, faced another awkward moment this week. A microphone caught him making fun of Donald Trump during a Congressional appearance on March 4. The incident follows the resurfacing of a controversial video, where Vance previously criticized Trump.
The Speech Incident
The mic picked up Vance’s comments as he spoke with Speaker Mike Johnson before Trump’s speech to Congress. Not realizing the mic was on, Vance said, “By the way, I think the speech is going to be great,” but then added, “But I don’t know how you do this for 90 minutes.”
Johnson’s Reaction
Johnson, trying to joke, replied, “The hardest thing was doing it during Biden.” He then lowered the mic, clearly realizing it had been on the whole time.
Viral Aftermath
The exchange quickly went viral. Later, Vance leaned in, preparing to share something private, but it was unclear what he said.

Old Videos Resurface
Adding to the controversy, a TikTok video compiles past comments by Vance. The clip begins with him promising during an RNC interview in July: “I will be a vice president that never forgets where he came from.” Then, a series of older clips play, showing Vance expressing disdain for Trump.
Previous Criticisms
In one clip, Vance, clean-shaven, declared, “I never liked him.” In another, he admitted, “I don’t know who I’m going to vote for – I’m definitely not going to vote for Trump.” He even joked about writing in his dog as a candidate.
Strong Words About Trump
Vance also said, “What Trump is, is just another opioid.” In a radio interview, he expressed his strong dislike: “I can’t stomach Trump. He’s obnoxious and leading the white working class to a very dark place.”
