Jeff Bezos Mourns Mother Less Than Two Months After Wedding
Less than two months after marrying Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos announced the passing of his mother, Jackie Bezos. She d**d on August 14, 2025, at her Miami home, surrounded by close family. Jeff shared an emotional tribute, revealing that Jackie had been battling Lewy Body Dementia.
“After a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia, she passed away today, surrounded by so many of us who loved her — her kids, grandkids, and my dad. I know she felt our love in those final moments,” he said.
A Life of Determination and Generosity
Jackie Bezos, born Jacklyn Gise on December 29, 1946, in Washington, D.C., spent much of her youth in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At just 17, she gave birth to Jeff. Despite school administrators doubting her ability to finish her education, she graduated under strict conditions, balancing school with work and raising her son.
She met Miguel “Mike” Bezos while working nights at a bank. They married on April 5, 1968, and shared nearly six decades together, raising three children: Jeff, Christina, and Mark. Jackie poured her energy into motherhood and extended her generosity to friends and neighbors.
At 45, Jackie returned to school, earning a BA in Psychology with High Honors from Saint Elizabeth University. In 2000, she co-founded the Bezos Family Foundation with Mike and their children, championing initiatives like Vroom and the Bezos Scholars Program.
Family and Public Tributs
Jeff often credited his mother for shaping his life. In 2017, he shared a childhood photo of them on X, expressing gratitude. After her d**th, he emphasized her lifelong devotion to family and others. The family encouraged donations to nonprofits in her memory.

Wedding Joy Amid Grief
Jackie passed away just weeks after Jeff and Lauren’s wedding in Venice, Italy. The ceremony, held on June 27, 2025, was a star-studded event with around 200 guests, including celebrities like Eva Longoria, Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner.
Lauren wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown inspired by Sophia Loren’s 1958 “Houseboat” dress, featuring a mermaid silhouette, tulle-and-lace veil, and 180 covered buttons. The design reportedly required over 900 hours to complete.
Global Spotlight on a Private Celebration
Venice confirmed the wedding would be managed without disrupting residents or tourists. Officials highlighted that the event, limited to 200 guests, would be coordinated with local authorities, drawing parallels to other high-profile events hosted by the city.
Despite rumors about pre-booked accommodations and logistics, city authorities ensured the celebration respected Venice’s historic and delicate environment.
