Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe suggested that additional indictments could emerge from the ongoing investigation into the origins of the Russiagate narrative. His remarks came during an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.
Ratcliffe’s comments followed the release of newly declassified information by Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard released evidence indicating that former President Barack Obama and his national security team allegedly “manufactured and politicized intelligence” in the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory.
When asked by Bartiromo about possible legal consequences for individuals accused of providing false testimony, Ratcliffe emphasized the importance of accountability.
“That’s why I’ve made the referrals that I have. DNI Gabbard has made referrals. And why we’re going to continue to share the intelligence that would support the ability of our Department of Justice to … bring fair and just claims against those who have perpetrated this hoax against the American people and this stain on our country,” Ratcliffe said.
Ratcliffe noted that a renewed effort is underway to examine how the alleged operation was conducted.
“It is a different Department of Justice, a different FBI, and an opportunity to look at how these people really did conspire to run a hoax, a fraud on the American people and against Donald Trump’s presidency,” he told Bartiromo.
The CIA director rejected the notion that the investigation is rooted in revenge or political retaliation.
He argued that President Trump’s reelection signaled the public’s demand for answers.
“And I think that’s why you see the left losing their minds over this, Maria, saying, why are you spending time? This is vindictive. You’re going back. This is Donald Trump, you know, seeking retribution. It’s not. Donald Trump’s election by the American people was a statement, Maria. They said to everyone, we know what you did to Donald Trump, and we reelected him because we know this was all fake,” Ratcliffe said.
“We know it was a hoax. Now we want to understand how you did it so that it can’t happen again. And that’s what this declassification process that we’re undergoing right now, what’s going on, why it’s so important, and why there can be accountability and preventability to prevent these same people that did it in 2016 with the Steele dossier, with the Hunter Biden laptop in 2020 from doing it again in the future,” Ratcliffe added.
The comments come as newly released documents raise further questions about the credibility of top intelligence officials from the Obama administration.
A June CIA memo suggests that former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey may have provided misleading testimony regarding the role of the Steele dossier in shaping the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA).
The ICA concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to interfere in the 2016 election in favor of Trump, but both Brennan and Comey had insisted that the dossier was not a factor in that determination.
Gabbard’s release of the memo challenges that assertion, indicating that the dossier may have influenced the assessment to a greater degree than previously acknowledged.
The revelations have intensified scrutiny over the actions of senior officials during the transition period following Trump’s 2016 victory.
Ratcliffe’s statements suggest that the investigation into Russiagate’s origins is ongoing and that additional legal action may be forthcoming as evidence continues to surface.
