My grandfather had been very ill for the last few years, and a month ago, he passed away. We all needed time to recover before sorting through his belongings.

Throughout his life, he never allowed us or my grandmother to throw anything away, even though many items were old and unnecessary. He kept everything in the garage.

And so, while my family and I were going through his things, I accidentally found this unusual vase. Naturally, none of us immediately understood what it was or why my grandfather kept it. We guessed that it might have been used to pour alcoholic beverages, particularly wine.

But when my grandmother explained what the vase was for, we were all shocked. It turns out, this was an automotive vase that my grandfather used frequently when he was young.

In the past (and some people still use them today), drivers kept roses in these vases, which not only served as decoration for the car’s interior but also helped eliminate unpleasant odors. They were eventually replaced by modern air fresheners.
