A Florida nurse has lost her medical license after state officials say she engaged in disturbing sexual conduct with her 15-year-old stepson over the summer.
Authorities allege that 34-year-old Alexis Von Yates of Ocala committed the abuse in July 2024 while the teen was visiting his father in Florida. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the allegations came to light after an anonymous tipster contacted police on July 30, claiming the boy’s father had walked in and witnessed part of the encounter.
Von Yates was arrested on November 6, 2024, on charges of sexual battery against a minor between the ages of 12 and 18 by a person in familial custody. She was booked into the Marion County Jail but released the following day after posting a $10,000 bond, court records show.
The Florida Department of Health confirmed this week that Von Yates’ single-state nursing license has been suspended under an Emergency Suspension Order issued April 25. Records indicate she had been licensed since January 2016.
In the state’s order, health officials emphasized the trust placed in medical professionals, writing:
“Nurses are entrusted with vulnerable patients, and they must demonstrate sound judgment and moral character. Ms. Yates’ alleged actions indicate she lacks both.”
The order further stated that formal disciplinary proceedings against her license will move forward quickly, though Von Yates has the right to request a review.

Court documents reviewed by investigators paint a disturbing picture of the events. The affidavit claims Von Yates and the teen were spending time together one evening — first playing a video game, then watching a movie — while his father was working late. At some point, she allegedly began making sexual comments, telling the boy she had not been intimate “in two weeks” and expressing that she was “horny.”
The teen reportedly told investigators she had been making similar sexual jokes for about a week prior to the alleged assault. During the encounter, Von Yates allegedly told the boy she “wished” he was 18. The report claims the two engaged in sexual activity on a couch before the father returned home.
According to the affidavit, the teen recalled earlier incidents in which Von Yates made suggestive gestures — including sticking out her tongue while eating whipped cream — and once telling him at a gym, “I bet everyone thought you were my little toy boy.”
After the father removed his son from the home, the affidavit says Von Yates later called the teen and expressed regret — not for the alleged act — but that “his father had caught them.”
Von Yates has pleaded not guilty through her attorney. No trial date has been scheduled at this time.
