He experienced a significant loss. Regardless of your opinions on Blake Shelton, he didn’t deserve this.

Blake Shelton’s Heartfelt Tribute

After the death of his friend Joe Bonsall, Blake Shelton shared a heartfelt tribute. Joe was a member of the country and gospel band The Oak Ridge Boys from 1973 to 2024. On Tuesday, Blake, 48, posted a photo of himself singing with the band, though the date and location remain unknown.

Blake’s Emotional Words

In his Instagram Stories, Blake expressed his sorrow: “I’m heartbroken to hear of my friend Joe Bonsall’s death.” He added, “I’ve NEVER seen Joe when he wasn’t smiling and completely full of life.” He also noted, “He loved singing more than anyone I’ve ever met.” Blake prayed for Joe’s family and his bandmates at @theoakridgeboys, saying, “Today we all lost someone important.”

Joe’s Battle with ALS

Joe Bonsall passed away due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a neuromuscular disease that affects voluntary muscles and has no cure. Fans learned about Joe’s diagnosis in January 2024, four years after he had been ill.

Family and Accomplishments

Joe was married to Mary Ann and had two daughters, Jennifer and Sabrina. He also had two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A family spokesperson announced that Joe authored 11 books, including his upcoming memoir, I See Myself, set for release in November.

Band Legacy and Popularity

Upon announcing his diagnosis, Joe revealed he would leave the band. The Oak Ridge Boys include William Lee Golden, Richard Sterban, and Duane Allen. Their hits, like “Elvira,” “Come On In,” “Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight,” and “Bobbie Sue,” showcase their talent. The band won five Grammys and entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.

Celebrating Joe’s Passion

None of the current band members are original members. Joe enjoyed singing, reading, writing, and playing the banjo. The Oak Ridge Boys’ founders included Curly Kinsey, Lon “Deacon” Freeman, Wally Fowler, and Little Johnny New.

Farewell Tour Announcement

The Oak Ridge Boys will kick off their American Made: The Farewell Tour today, running until December 8.

A disastrous meeting in downtown Chicago, investors threatening to walk away, partners doubting the logistics empire he had built from nothing – it all sat heavy on his chest. By the time he stepped through the front door, loosening his tie, he was ready for the same emptiness that had greeted him every night for eight months. No music. No footsteps. No voices. Just the echo of what used to be a family. But tonight, something cut straight through the quiet. Laughter. Not polite giggles or the tired laugh people use when they’re trying to make others comfortable, but loud, full, stumbling-over-itself laughter. Children’s laughter. Miles froze in the entryway. His briefcase slipped from his hand and landed on the marble floor with a dull thud. Evan, Leo, and Max hadn’t laughed since the night their mother didn’t come home from a late errand. Since the accident. Since everything in their world shifted and stayed that way. His heart hammering, he followed the sound down the hall toward the bright sunroom his late wife, Hannah, used to fill with plants and art projects. When he stepped into the doorway, his breath caught. To be continued in the comments 👇
