Panettiere took to Instagram to directly address fans and the public. In the interview, she discussed heavy topics like her brother Jansen Panettiere’s sudden death and her relationship with her daughter. However, fans grew concerned as her speech appeared slurred during the interview.
Panettiere, who has openly spoken about her struggles with sobriety in the past, now explains the circumstances behind her appearance in the video.
Defending Her Actions
In her Instagram post, Panettiere defended herself, explaining why she slurred her words. She emphasized that she had not slept for two days due to her dog’s emergency surgery. The actress also mentioned that the interview lasted 8 hours, followed by an hour-long on-camera session. Despite being exhausted, she tried to continue but was fading as the conversation became more serious.
Panettiere’s representative eventually ended the interview early. They requested a follow-up, but the interviewer declined, saying it was already intense and touching.
Behind-the-Scenes Struggles
Panettiere also pointed out that People Magazine doesn’t allow approval of images or interviews before publication. She stated that she only saw the interview after it went live, just like everyone else.
“Grief looks different for everyone,” Panettiere said, defending her mental health. She also expressed frustration over the media’s clickbait culture, which often fuels unnecessary judgment.
