The Roots of Resilience
Harris Faulkner grew up in a military family. She was born on October 13, 1965, at a U.S. Army base in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father, retired Bobby R. Harris, served as an Army aviator and flew combat missions in Vietnam.
Her childhood involved moving between military bases — including a posting in Stuttgart, Germany. Her upbringing instilled in her values of discipline, patriotism, faith, and service.
Harris credits her parents with shaping her — her father with integrity, perseverance, and purpose; her mother, the late Shirley Harris, with compassion, faith, and kindness.

From Military Childhood to Journalism
That foundation paved her path into journalism. Harris once said her father’s voice and his experiences inspired her to be a communicator.
She worked her way up through local news — then, in 2005, joined Fox News Channel. Today, she anchors multiple shows and has won several Emmy Awards.
Her military‑family background gave her a sense of mission. It shaped her belief in duty, truth, and giving voice to stories that matter.

Loss, Faith, and a Personal Mission
Harris lost her mother in 2016. Years later, on December 25, 2020, she lost her father. She publicly honored him as her “Christmas North Star.”
His death, during the COVID‑19 pandemic, struck her hard. With lockdowns and isolation, Harris admitted her faith wavered. She struggled.
But then she found her father’s Bible among his belongings. The handwritten notes in it helped her reconnect spiritually. Through prayer and reflection, she found healing and renewed conviction.
Honoring His Legacy: “Footsteps of My Father”
In 2024, Harris launched a deeply personal project: a limited‑series on Fox Nation titled Vietnam: Footsteps of My Father. In it, she retraces areas where her father served as a combat pilot during the Vietnam War.
She visited Vietnam — walked the Saigon River, talked with veterans, listened to war‑time recordings of her father, and gained a new understanding of his service. Through that journey, she honored his memory and sacrifice.
For Harris, the series wasn’t just historical — it was deeply personal. She called it the most deeply honest work she has done publicly.
Faith, Family, and a Life of Purpose
Today, Harris Faulkner continues to build her legacy on three pillars: faith, truth, and family. She draws from her upbringing and life’s trials to inform her journalism.
She has described herself not merely as a broadcaster — but as a witness. A woman shaped by loss, faith, and the belief that telling truth matters.
