‘Growing Up Putman’ Family Tragedy: Three Killed in Car Accident, Several Hospitalized

According to TMZ, three members of the Putman reality TV family have tragically died in a car accident, the family confirmed on Instagram Saturday morning. They shared that “Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan” had passed away. While no real names were given, “Papa” refers to family patriarch Bill Putman, and “Neenee” was his wife, Barb.

Other family members — Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia — were injured in the crash and remain hospitalized. Details about the accident itself have not yet been released.

In their statement, the family expressed comfort in their faith, citing John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” They said they believe their loved ones are now whole in Heaven, standing before Jesus.

The series followed Bill and Barb Putman — known to viewers as “Papa” and “Neenee” — along with their four adult children, their spouses, and more than a dozen grandchildren, all living together under one roof in Michigan. At the heart of the show was the family’s decision to embrace a unique lifestyle built on Christian faith, love, and unity, even as it brought daily challenges.

Across its episodes, the show highlighted how the family managed day-to-day life as a household of more than 25 people. Viewers saw the humor and chaos of shared meals, the demands of raising children collectively, and the inevitable conflicts that arose when multiple generations lived side by side. Yet, the Putmans consistently emphasized togetherness and their belief that their unconventional setup helped strengthen family bonds.

The program stood out for portraying both the joys and the struggles of communal living in modern America. While some viewers admired the family’s closeness, others were drawn to the drama that naturally unfolded in such a large household. At its core, the series painted a portrait of faith-driven resilience, family-first values, and the balancing act of maintaining harmony in a bustling, shared home.

The family shared on Instagram that they now live together with 10 adults and 20 children.

The show, originally titled Meet the Putmans, was revived on YouTube in 2021 under the name Growing Up Putman. However, according to TMZ, no new episodes have been released in recent years.
