Greg Gutfeld tops the late-night charts as CBS ends Colbert’s run

Greg Gutfeld Takes Late-Night Throne as Rivals Fade

Late-night TV just experienced a major shake-up — and Greg Gutfeld is comfortably on top. While Stephen Colbert grabbed headlines after CBS announced the end of The Late Show in 2025, another show has been quietly winning the ratings war for nearly two years: Gutfeld!

Gutfeld’s Winning Streak

Airing at 10 p.m. ET, Gutfeld! has beaten The Late Show for 21 straight months in total viewers and 13 consecutive months in the 25–54 demographic. In 2025, the Fox News show averages 3.1 million nightly viewers, compared to Colbert’s 1.9 million.

Gutfeld also leads among viewers aged 18–49, pulling in 248,000 each night — the best in late-night. Colbert trails with 288,000 in the 25–54 demo and 188,000 in the 18–49 bracket, falling behind Gutfeld, Jimmy Kimmel, and even Jimmy Fallon, despite airing more than an hour later.

CBS Cancels The Late Show

CBS recently revealed The Late Show will end in May 2025, citing a $40 million annual loss. Colbert pushed back, questioning the financial explanation. “How could it purely be a financial decision if The Late Show is No. 1 in ratings?” he asked his audience. Later, he aimed a blunt remark at President Trump: “Go f— yourself.”

The cancellation follows CBS’s $16 million settlement of Donald Trump’s $20 billion election interference lawsuit. With a Paramount–Skydance merger looming, industry insiders suspect the network is clearing the decks.

From Underdog to Power Player

Once dismissed as an unlikely contender in late-night, Gutfeld built a devoted audience with sharp satire, news commentary, and irreverent humor. Now, armed with ratings dominance, he’s making waves in the entertainment world — whether Hollywood approves or not.

As rival shows stumble and networks reshuffle, Gutfeld! shows no sign of slowing down.
