A Royal Bond That Spans Generations
Princess Diana had four siblings. Today, three are still living: Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. Sadly, their eldest brother, John Spencer, died shortly after birth in 1960.
Despite heartache, the Spencer family has grown and thrived. Diana’s nieces, now adults, continue to capture the public’s interest. Two of them — twins — are often compared to their late aunt for their striking resemblance.
Eliza and Amelia Spencer: Twins with Shared Paths
Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer were born on July 10, 1992, in the UK but spent most of their childhood in South Africa. As daughters of Charles Spencer and model Victoria Lockwood, they lived far from the royal spotlight.
Life as Twins
In a rare joint interview, the twins described their close bond. “We’ve always been very close. We love the same things and share the same friends,” said Lady Amelia. “You’re guaranteed to have a best friend.”
Eliza fondly remembered school days at Reddam House in Constantia. They often played on the same sports teams — swimming, netball, tennis, and even water polo.
Memories of Althorp
In 1995, the family moved to South Africa to avoid the intense UK media attention. Though their parents divorced two years later, the sisters cherished their school holidays at Althorp, the family estate.
Eliza recalled, “We spent our first three years at Althorp. It’s always felt like another home.” She especially remembered joyful Christmases surrounded by family.
Adventures in Nature
In South Africa, their lives were peaceful and filled with nature. Eliza recalled camping in Cederberg without electricity. “We were always on farms and in nature. We couldn’t have done that elsewhere.”
Stepping into the Spotlight
The twins made their public debut at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011. Seven years later, Amelia attended Prince Harry’s wedding with her mother and siblings.
Though they rarely visit Althorp now, their brother Louis maintains a close connection to the estate. “He spent lockdown there,” said Amelia. “He’s embraced the English traditions.”

Remembering Princess Diana
Longtime Althorp staff shared stories about Princess Diana with the twins. “We just knew her as our aunt,” Eliza explained. Growing up in South Africa, she didn’t realize Diana’s global impact until she was older.
The princess visited them in Cape Town shortly before her passing. “We were very fortunate to have spent that time with her,” Eliza added.
Fashion and Fame
In recent years, the sisters gained attention for their stylish looks. A public appearance in black dresses reminiscent of Diana’s iconic “revenge dress” sparked admiration. Fans flooded social media with praise:
-
“Beautiful like their aunt.”
-
“They are all beautiful ladies!”
-
“Stunning — definitely see the resemblance.”
Building Lives Beyond the Royal Ties
Today, the sisters live in London and continue modeling. Amelia married Greg Mallett at a vineyard in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Eliza has been with her partner, Channing Millerd, for nine years.
Greg and Channing were schoolmates and share similar values. Greg noted that introducing Eliza to Channing felt easy and natural.
Lady Kitty Spencer: The Firstborn Trailblazer
Lady Kitty Spencer, born December 28, 1990, is the eldest daughter of Charles Spencer and Victoria Lockwood. Two years older than her twin sisters, Kitty also spent her early life in South Africa.
Sisterly Support
Despite being apart during the pandemic, the sisters remained close. “Kitty is always supportive,” Eliza shared. “We have a WhatsApp group just for us girls.”
A Life of Fashion and Family
Kitty married South African-born businessman Michael Lewis on July 24, 2021. They have a daughter, Athena. On Instagram, Kitty called Athena her “sunshine and joy,” expressing how deeply she loves her.
In addition to motherhood, Kitty thrives in the fashion world. She’s worked with brands like Dior, Alberta Ferretti, and Bottega Veneta. Her timeless features and regal elegance made her a fashion favorite — especially with Dolce & Gabbana, who designed five custom gowns for her 2022 wedding in Rome.
Carrying On Diana’s Legacy
Lady Kitty, Lady Eliza, and Lady Amelia each followed unique paths — yet they remain deeply rooted in family. Their bond with Princess Diana endures through personal memories and public admiration.
From quiet days in South Africa to dazzling fashion runways, these Spencer sisters continue to inspire with grace, charm, and resilience.
