Although many people have played country music over the years, very few of them have ever come close to what George Strait was able to do. He was country during a time when it wasn’t mainstream, and he really paved the way for many others to enjoy the benefits of country music.

It isn’t only us that understand how much George Strait offered to the country music genre, he even won the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 CMA Awards. It was a moment that nobody in attendance will ever forget.

George Strait was standing on the stage at the CMA Awards ready to accept this prestigious award for himself. The audience grew very quiet, as George Strait stepped up to the mic and showed why he is more than a country music singer, he truly is the ‘King of Country’.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed how much he appreciated the Country Music Association for giving him this honor. After all, it not only holds the name of Willie Nelson, but George Strait is one of his biggest fans.

He also acknowledged that there were many other artists who had performed his songs in tribute and that their renditions were amazing to hear. He was full of his usual Texas charm and wit, and the crowd absolutely ate it up.

Aside from the professional acknowledgments that George Strait gave that day, it also took a personal turn as he spoke about his family. He mentioned everyone, including the grandkids that were there that day to watch him accept the award but his attention was really focused on Norma, his wife.
