Ines Extends Condolences
The 35-year-old jewelry designer has also reached out to the Pitt family. “She’s really close with Brad’s family and immediately sent her condolences as soon as she heard the news,” a source added.
Remembering Jane Etta Pitt
Born on August 13, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane grew up in Joplin with her siblings, Sam and Ruthie. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University, where she met William Alvin ‘Bill’ Pitt. The couple married on August 11, 1962, and settled in Springfield, Missouri, raising three children: Brad, Doug, and Julie.
Jane began her career as an elementary school teacher and later became one of the original “Parents As Teachers” educators. She also volunteered at the Pregnancy Care Center and nurtured a love for art, sharing painting lessons with her grandchildren. Known as “Grammy”, she celebrated each grandchild’s individuality with traditions like “Your Special Day.”
Jane also built strong ties to Ethiopia, supporting community projects in Addis Ababa and visiting her grandchildren born there. Faith remained central to her life as a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, three children, and 14 grandchildren.
Family Tributes
In the days after her passing, family members shared heartfelt tributes. Sydney Pitt, Brad’s niece, wrote on Instagram:
“My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet, but knowing you are free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it easier. She had the biggest heart… she taught me to be strong, to lead with kindness, to find joy in the smallest things.”
Sydney also shared memories of their yearly “special day” tradition, from banana splits at breakfast to mini golf and movies, highlighting Jane’s boundless energy and love.
