The Unexpected Guest
An elderly woman felt pity for a homeless young man and offered him shelter. He had nowhere to go—his family abandoned him, and his few friends had vanished. A distant relative suggested he stay with her, thinking he could provide company and receive a roof over his head.
When he arrived, he carried only a small backpack with two shirts, a notebook, and a faded photograph of his late parents. Quiet and humble, he kept his eyes downcast. The woman’s heart softened instantly. She fed him, laid out her son’s old clothes, and gave him a room—the same one her son had occupied before moving away. That night, she went to bed comforted, believing God had sent the boy to ease her loneliness.
A Terrifying Night
Sleep didn’t come easily. The floor creaked, and her mind wouldn’t rest. Just as she drifted off, she heard faint footsteps and a door hinge groan.
Through the dim glow of her nightlight, she saw him step inside. Something in his hands caught her attention. His kind expression had vanished, replaced by a cold, blank stare. He moved slowly, each step deliberate.
The woman froze, pretending to sleep and whispering a prayer. Then, she saw him lift a pillow.
“It’ll be better for both of us,” he whispered.
In a flash, the pillow pressed down on her face. She fought with every ounce of strength in her frail body, knocking it to the floor and screaming for help. Neighbors burst in just in time.
The Shocking Truth
When the police arrived, the horrifying truth came to light. The boy wasn’t who he claimed to be. His parents had died years earlier in an “accident” he had witnessed but never explained. Since then, he had wandered under false identities, targeting lonely elderly women and planning to make their deaths appear accidental—just to take their homes.
The woman’s kindness had been met with betrayal, but her courage and quick thinking saved her life.
