Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr is expected to update Republican lawmakers on the agency’s investigation into George Soros and his influence over local radio stations during a meeting on Wednesday.
Carr will meet with members of the Republican Study Committee at their annual closed-door lunch. He is set to brief lawmakers on Soros’s influence, especially in relation to his ties to an investment firm that bought over 200 Audacy radio stations nationwide last year.
Carr will also discuss strategies to counter left-wing media. The radio station acquisition has raised concerns among Republicans, particularly regarding FCC approval processes and foreign ownership. House Oversight Committee members have criticized the FCC’s expedited approval, arguing it could help Soros gain significant control over the airwaves, influencing millions of Americans before the November election.
