Fans Applaud World Series MVP Freddie Freeman for His Heartfelt Words About His Son After Dodgers’ Victory

A Long Journey to World Series MVP

Only three months after Freddie Freeman was placed on the family emergency list to be by his son’s side, he emerged as the World Series MVP. Freeman’s son, Maximus, age 3, had fallen ill and was later diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare autoimmune disorder.

Freeman’s Touching Words After the Dodgers’ Victory

Following the Los Angeles Dodgers’ championship win over the New York Yankees, Freeman spoke about Max’s health battle. His words deeply resonated with parents and fans everywhere.

“I would gladly strike out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth in Game 7 of the World Series 300 million times rather than see that again,” he said, reflecting on Max’s hospitalization.

Freeman added, “He’s on his way, but it’s going to be a long road.”

Fans Applaud Freeman’s Strength and Devotion

Fans took to social media to praise Freeman’s strength and dedication to his family.

“As a die-hard Yankee fan, Freddie Freeman gained a fan in me,” one supporter commented. “The way you love your family and played through it all is absolutely incredible. Prayers for Max.”

Another fan echoed, “Nobody deserved MVP more than Freeman. He’s overcome so much this postseason.”

A Heart-Wrenching Diagnosis and Recovery

On July 27, Freeman first joined the family emergency list to support his son. His wife, Chelsea Freeman, kept the public updated on Max’s condition, sharing that Max was diagnosed with GBS on Instagram.

Guillain-Barré syndrome, as the Mayo Clinic describes, is a rare neurological condition where the immune system attacks the nerves. It can lead to paralysis, numbness, or weakness. Max had rapidly declined and experienced full-body paralysis. Chelsea expressed gratitude that they got him to the hospital in time.

Hope Amid the Hardship

Describing those days as “the hardest and scariest of our lives,” Chelsea shared that Max was showing signs of improvement. “Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting so hard. We believe he will be completely healed.”
