JFK Assassination Files Released
After decades of anticipation, the classified files on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy are finally available to the public.
The Event that Changed History
On November 22, 1963, President Kennedy, riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas, was tragically shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald fired from a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository at approximately 12:30 pm. Kennedy, accompanied by his wife Jacqueline and Texas Governor John Connally, was seated in the back of an armored Lincoln convertible.
A Long Wait Ends
For over 60 years, these files remained locked away. The assassination of Kennedy, the fourth U.S. president to be murdered, has been surrounded by numerous conspiracy theories ever since.
In January 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to declassify the documents. Finally, on March 18, 2025, President Trump released 80,000 pages of documents, revealing details about the investigation that had been kept secret for over 22,000 days.
Public Reaction
The release marks the end of a lengthy wait, but reactions have been mixed. While some are eager to dive into the newly available information, others are disappointed by what they perceive as insufficient revelations. These files are now accessible, offering the public a deeper look into one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history.
