During the Texas floods, Dennis Quaid remembers the fearful hours waiting to hear from his daughter

Dennis Quaid’s Frightening Night Amid Texas Floods

Texas-born actor Dennis Quaid experienced a restless night filled with fear during the d**dly floods that swept through the Hill Country. On July 9, 2025, he shared his emotional story in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

A Daughter Working Amid Disaster

Quaid’s 17-year-old daughter, Zoe, was working as a counselor at Camp Longhorn—about 75 miles north of Kerrville—when the floods began. Though the camp was not in immediate danger, the rising waters devastated the surrounding area. Dennis tried calling Zoe as reports of flooding grew worse, but he couldn’t reach her until the next day.

A Night of Uncertainty and Anxiety

“I heard about this as I was going to bed,” Dennis recalled. “I tried to call her because I knew she was up there. I knew it wasn’t near the floods, but I couldn’t talk to her until the next day.” That night, he barely slept.

The Camp’s Safety and Nearby Tragedy

While Zoe and many campers stayed safe, the disaster still cast a shadow. One camper tragically lost her entire family when floodwaters swept away their RV near the Guadalupe River.

A Call for Compassion and Support

Dennis urged the public to pray for flood victims. He highlighted the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund as a critical resource for those affected. The stories of children facing the flood’s te*ror left him deeply shaken.

Personal Connections to the Tragedy

Adding to his pain, Dennis and his wife, Laura Savoie, are close to Clark Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Hunt family suffered a heartbreaking loss when 9-year-old Janie Hunt d**d in the floods at nearby Camp Mystic.

Dennis expressed sorrow, saying, “I can’t imagine how devastating that would be.”

Faith and Healing Amid Grief

Clark Hunt’s wife, Tavia, shared her grief on Instagram. She posted heartfelt photos and questioned how faith endures in the face of such loss, especially when children are affected.

She encouraged others to lean on faith—not to erase pain but to find hope for healing and restoration.

Camp Longhorn’s Response

On July 4, Camp Longhorn issued a statement expressing heartbreak over the floods and support for the affected communities. They reassured families that the camp itself remained safe and pledged solidarity with other camps and the Hill Country community.

Moments of Joy Amid the Crisis

Despite the tragedy, Zoe enjoyed her summer. On July 6, she shared joyful photos from the camp with friends. These moments offered a glimpse of normalcy during an otherwise difficult week.

Dennis Quaid’s story reminds us that natural disasters affect many lives beyond immediate damage. Our thoughts remain with all those impacted by the Texas floods.
