Due to negative reactions, parents decide to remove their baby’s unique birthmark

Parents Protect Their Daughter
Parents will do anything to protect their children, and these parents were no exception. When baby Vienna Brookshaw was born, her parents made a life-changing decision to protect her from potential emotional harm.

A Surprising Birthmark
Vienna was born in April 2021 with a prominent dark mark between her eyebrows. While her mother, Celine Casey, was overjoyed, she immediately worried about the mark’s impact. Doctors reassured her that it was harmless, but Celine couldn’t help but worry about how the mark might affect her daughter as she grew older.

Diagnosed with a Rare Condition
Vienna’s birthmark was diagnosed as congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN), a rare condition that affects about 20,000 babies. It’s caused by a cluster of pigment cells formed before birth and can grow as the child matures. Although the birthmark wasn’t dangerous, its location meant Vienna would likely face unwanted attention and negative comments.

The Parents’ Decision
As Vienna grew, her parents noticed people staring at her, and Celine was determined to protect her daughter from the potential emotional distress. Concerned that their daughter might resent them in the future, Celine asked doctors about removing the birthmark. Though doctors assured her it wouldn’t affect Vienna’s mental health immediately, Celine disagreed. She believed it could impact Vienna as she got older, especially when she started school.

Crowdfunding for Surgery
When the NHS denied the surgery, calling it cosmetic, Celine turned to crowdfunding. Within 24 hours, they raised $52,000, but hospital costs had risen due to the pandemic, and they still needed $27,000. The parents launched a second GoFundMe campaign to cover the remaining costs for Vienna’s surgery.

Surgery Success
At three years old, Vienna’s birthmark is completely removed, leaving only a small scar on her forehead. The parents continue to share updates, praising how beautiful their daughter is and how well she has healed.

Future Check-ups
The couple traveled to London for a follow-up with the surgeon to ensure that no further procedures were needed. For now, Vienna is a healthy three-year-old with no additional surgeries required.

A Happy Ending
We wish Vienna a lifetime of health and happiness. Share her story so others can be inspired by her journey!
