Donald Trump Silences Foreign Leader Mid-Call, Jokes “Big Red Button” On JD Vance

During a phone conversation with the foreign leader, JD Vance revealed details about his friendship with Donald Trump, including the time the US president played a practical joke on him.

The 40-year-old vice president recently disclosed in public at a Republican Party event in Ohio that a serious conversation with the 79-year-old Trump ended in complete hysteria.

Vance claims that as things seemed to be going south, Trump was in the Oval Office talking on the phone with a foreign leader.

“The president looks over at me, puts the foreign leader on mute and says, ‘This is not going very well’,” he stated to the Republicans.

Vance instantly assumed the worst when Trump clicked the red button on his desk a moment later.

“My eyes get really big, And I’m like, ‘Mr. President, what just happened?’” the politician explained.

“And he looks at me and he goes, ‘Nuclear. Nuclear’.”

Whilst laughing on stage, you can assume nothing awful happened, as Vance revealed, “And two minutes later, a guy walks in with a Diet Coke.”

“And he looks back at me and he says, ‘It wasn’t nuclear. It’s just the Diet Coke button’.”

“So that’s the kind of guy, my fellow Republicans, that we have as the president of the United States,” he added to the audience after he had a brief laugh.

What is the Diet Coke button?

A Wall Street Journal photographer was granted exclusive access to the Oval Office shortly after Trump was sworn in for the second time on January 20, 2025.

“A valet button that Trump famously used to order Diet Cokes was set up and ready to go,” according to the media site. Hours later, a picture was taken of a wooden box on his desk that contained the red button.

The Diet Coke button was put in place during his first term in office, and it’s obvious that the US president, who abstains from alcohol, enjoys a glass of Coca-Cola.

Trump’s fondness for the beverage was demonstrated prior to his inauguration when James Quincey, the chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola, gave him the first bottle of Diet Coke.

Trump and the United States are currently at the core of the growing Iran-Israel crisis.

However, Israel accused Iran of launching a missile and “violating” the truce just after the US president announced it. Iran refuted this accusation.

They warned to “respond forcibly” to Iran before Trump intervened to try to allay worries on both sides. Following a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a temporary halt was placed.

Needless to say, Trump was ‘not happy’ with either side, as he threw himself into a fiery tirade during a reporter’s interview, even using the foul language.
