World leaders have gathered in New York City for the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting. On Wednesday, Donald Trump delivered his speech to the assembly, which lasted one hour and reportedly became the longest speech any president has given at the UN.
While the discussions are serious, for example, about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the war in the Middle East, laughs were heard through the General Assembly as Donald Trump began speaking. It didn’t take long before he paused, as his teleprompter stopped working.
“I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working,” Donald Trump said, adding that he was still happy to be in the General Assembly hall, per Al Jazeera.
Donald then, jokingly, made a 2-word threat to the person responsible for the teleprompters, saying, “I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble.”
The teleprompter wasn’t the first malfunction for the day. Donald was joined by Melania Trump at the UN in New York, but as they were heading up an escalator in the building, it suddenly stopped. Both Donald and Melania looked over their shoulders to ask what had happened, and afterward, the White House was unhappy.
Donald says Melania Trump is in “great shape”
As per Newsweek, they even called for an investigation into whether the escalator was stopped on purpose to humiliate him. Moreover, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that there would be “accountability” if it were found to have been intentional. Meanwhile, the UN stated that the malfunction was caused by a safety mechanism being inadvertently activated.
As mentioned, Melania Trump was standing in front of her husband on the escalator when it came to a stop. She joined her husband for the state visit to the UK last week, and it appeared to have been a success.
As for her everyday life, Melania has decided to keep herself out of the spotlight most of the time. Therefore, not that much is known about how she is doing, but when speaking about the escalator, Donald gave a surprising health update on her.
Speaking to the diplomats in the assembly, Trump said all he got from the UN was “an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle,” before adding, “If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would’ve fallen.”
Melania Trump is reportedly adhering to a strict diet and workout regimen. What kind of workout she is conducting is not clear, but the first lady has previously said she enjoys Pilates and tennis.

Moreover, reports suggest that she wears ankle weights most days. Speaking to Glam.com, personal trainer and Myri Health founder Dr. Pinkey Patel praised Melania’s choice of workouts.
“Tennis is great for cardiovascular health, agility, and coordination,” she said in an interview published in late August. “It’s multidirectional, which keeps joints and connective tissue engaged. But it’s still primarily aerobic and doesn’t provide the mechanical load needed to stimulate muscle hypertrophy or significant bone remodeling.”
While Patel stated that ankle weights are good for elevating the workout, the doctor also said that it might not be enough.
“Ankle weights are a fun way to add low-level resistance to daily movement, but they won’t trigger the same adaptations as structured strength training,” Dr. Pinkey Patel said. “Listen, by 55, sarcopenia, which is fancy for age-related loss of muscle, can accelerate, and bone density can decline 1% or more each year. The only proven way to counteract both is progressive resistance training.”
