Trump emphasized that in the past, America wasn’t afraid to lock up the most dangerous criminals. He vowed that this would return with the reopening of Alcatraz. He added, “No longer will we tolerate these Serial Offenders who spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets.”

While the timeline and specifics are unclear, Trump directed the Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security to move forward with the project.
