Trump Criticizes Portrait at Colorado State Capitol
Former President Donald Trump has made his dissatisfaction clear regarding his portrait at the Colorado State Capitol.
Demands Removal from Governor Polis
Trump is calling on Democratic Governor Jared Polis, whom he criticizes as part of the “radical left,” to remove the portrait, which is displayed alongside other U.S. presidents’ images. Expressing his frustration on Truth Social, Trump said, “Nobody likes an unflattering picture or painting of themselves.”
A “Deliberate Distortion”
Trump has long emphasized the importance of a favorable representation, once calling himself a “wonderful-looking man.” He is particularly unhappy with an artwork by artist Sarah Boardman, claiming the painting is a “purposeful distortion.” Trump also noted that Boardman had painted former President Barack Obama well, but his own portrait, he argued, was poorly done.
“I’d rather have no picture at all than this one,” Trump added on Truth Social.
Hanging Since 2019
Trump stated that many Colorado residents had reached out to express their discontent with the portrait. He voiced their frustrations, demanding that Governor Polis, whom he criticized for being “weak on crime,” take the painting down.
