“They don’t want to risk Dolly’s reputation or her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle,” Schofield said.

She suggested the offer was more strategic than sincere. According to Schofield, Markle hoped to borrow credibility from someone who already holds cultural authority in the lifestyle space.
