Debut of Melania Film Takes Place at Recently Renamed Trump Kennedy Center

Melania Trump’s new documentary is set to premiere later this month at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The screening will take place at the venue recently renamed to include President Donald Trump’s name, making the event both cultural and political in tone.

Donald and Melania Trump are expected to attend the January 29 screening. The premiere is scheduled just one day before the documentary’s theatrical release, according to reports they shared with the media.

Titled “Melania”, the documentary follows the first lady during the opening weeks of 2025. It captures the period as the Trump family prepared for a return to the White House ahead of President Trump’s second inauguration.

The film is directed by Brett Ratner and includes previously unseen footage from the transition period. It also features moments from the inauguration itself, offering a behind the scenes look at Melania Trump’s role during that time.

In a statement released alongside the project, Melania described the documentary as “history … in motion.” She said it gives viewers “a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming First Lady of the United States of America.”

Melania also serves as an executive producer on the project. The documentary is licensed by Amazon, and the trailer was released earlier by Amazon MGM Studios.

The trailer moves quickly between scenes of the first lady and the president at the inauguration. It also shows moments of the couple together outside Mar a Lago and behind the scenes footage featuring prominent figures.

Other visuals in the trailer include Air Force One, the presidential seal, and symbolic imagery tied to the presidency. One scene shows Melania entering a room as President Trump rehearses remarks while standing at a podium.

The trailer closes with Melania addressing her husband directly. She calls out “Mr President” before offering her congratulations as the moment fades out.

The premiere comes weeks after President Trump reshaped the leadership of the Kennedy Center. After appointing allies to the board, members voted to make him chairman and approved renaming the venue to “The Trump Kennedy Center.”

That decision drew criticism from members of the Kennedy family, including Maria Shriver. She said: “It is beyond comprehension that this sitting president has sought to rename this great memorial dedicated to President Kennedy,” adding that placing Trump’s name ahead of Kennedy’s was “not acceptable.”
