Jay and Kateri Schwandt’s Unique Choice

Though eccentric baby names aren’t new, Jay and Kateri Schwandt might have set a new standard. Parents of fourteen boys, they were hoping for a girl. Instead, they welcomed their 14th son, Finley, who weighed 8lbs 4oz.

A Special Middle Name

Recognizing Finley would be their last child, Jay and Kateri chose a unique middle name, “Sheyboygan.” Inspired by a story from Kateri’s father about a Native American chief with many sons, it means “She’s a boy again.”

A Bittersweet Milestone

Jay shared, “Kateri and I are in our 40s, so we know we’re coming to the end.” Though they anticipated this would be their last pregnancy, they cherished every moment, filled with excitement just like with their first child.

Finley’s Growing Family

Finley joins his 13 brothers: Tyler (25), Zach (22), Drew (21), Brandon (19), Tommy (16), Vinny (15), Calvin (12), Gabe (11), Wesley (9), Charlie (8), Luke (6), Tucker (4), and Francisco (2). Despite their hopes for a girl, Jay and Kateri are thrilled with another boy. Finley’s unique name might stand out, but with 13 brothers by his side, he’ll always have their support.
