A $1.78 Million Dinner with Trump? Crypto Investors Left Disappointed
The chance to dine with Donald Trump for $1.78 million sounds irresistible. But for many crypto investors, the reality fell far short of expectations.
Big Money, Bigger Letdown
On May 22, over 200 crypto investors gathered at Trump National Golf Club near Washington, D.C., for an exclusive dinner. Each guest secured a seat by investing in Trump’s meme coin, $TRUMP.
According to Inca Digital, total spending on the coin reached $148 million. The top 25 holders alone poured in $111 million. Nansen, a blockchain analytics firm, reported the average attendee spent $1.78 million to join.
What Was on the Menu?
Given the price tag, guests expected an unforgettable dining experience.
The event—advertised as “the most exclusive invitation in the world”—offered fine dining beneath crystal chandeliers. Dishes included pan-seared halibut with citrus reduction, filet mignon with demi-glace, organic salad, and warm lava cake for dessert.
But for many, the food fell flat.
TikToker Nicholas Pinto described it bluntly to Wired:
“It was the worst food I’ve ever had at a Trump golf course. The only good thing was bread and butter.”
He added to NBC:
“The food sucked. No drinks besides water or Trump’s wine. I don’t drink, so I had water—and my glass was filled only once.”
Other attendees echoed his sentiment. One called the food “OK, but not top-class.” A CNBC correspondent compared it to “airplane food.”
Was It Worth It?
The real question: Did anything else at the event justify the massive investment?
Trump’s 25-Minute Speech and a Dance to ‘YMCA’
Trump stayed for about an hour. His speech lasted roughly 23–25 minutes, depending on the source. Compared to his usual 90-minute addresses, this one was brief.
As he exited the stage, Trump treated the crowd to a little dance to “YMCA” by The Village People.
The Gift Bags: Another Miss?
Disappointed with the dinner? Attendees might’ve hoped the gift bags would lift their spirits.
Unfortunately, they didn’t.
The bags included:
-
“Fight Fight Fight”-themed hats and posters
-
A collectible plastic card
However, the top four investors did receive something special: limited-edition Trump Tourbillon watches worth around $100,000 each.
Two more watches were raffled off during the event.
Final Thought
After spending nearly $2 million each, many crypto investors left the dinner underwhelmed. From lukewarm food to modest gift bags, the event sparked more eye-rolls than applause.
