Confirmed, Why Sir Elton Is Done Touring

Back in 2023, Sir Elton John claimed that he was done touring after his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour which ended in Stockholm, Sweden, in July 2023, but many fans have probably been wondering if the singer would really be able to say goodbye to touring forever.

Now, almost one year later, the answer is clear. John has recently reconfirmed that yes, he is not planning to tour ever again.

OK Magazine reports that in a recent interview, John shared that going on tour is not something he’s even willing to consider. The reason is that wants to focus on his family which includes husband David Furnish and their children, 11-year-old Elijah and 13-year-old Zachary.

Furnish said, “We’ve got our sons, you know, they’re getting into their teenage years now. We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be present for that.”

He continued, “It’s sort of a key decade, I think, in a child’s life.”

Furnish also shared that John has been touring for decades, and it’s time for the 77-year-old to finally take a break. He explained, “He’s been doing it for 60 years, so it’s nice to have that time to spend at home with family.”

John added his own feelings about touring, sharing that he feels like he ended on a high note. He said, “The last show in Stockholm on the farewell tour after Glastonbury, I got in the car and went, ‘Yes! Yes!’ We went out on the biggest high, just the way I wanted to, and there’s no going back [after] that.”

During that final farewell concert, John thanked his fans as he said goodbye. He shared, “Fifty-two years of pure joy, playing music. How lucky am I to play music? But I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes. But more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. And you know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent. Thank you.”

Even though John claims he will never tour again, he made it clear that it is possible that he will perform live again, but it would be a “one off” performance.
