A New Addition to the Johnson Family

Country star Cody Johnson and his wife Brandi are officially parents of three! During an interview on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton, the singer revealed that the couple welcomed their first son, Jaycee Daniel Johnson, on October 21, 2025.

Jaycee joins his two big sisters, Clara (10) and Cori (8). The Johnsons haven’t yet shared the news on social media, but fans are already celebrating the happy announcement.

From Red Carpet Reveal to Baby Boy

Fans first learned the couple was expecting their third child back in May, when they appeared at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards. Brandi, glowing on the red carpet, proudly showed off her baby bump — a surprise reveal that Cody says was all part of his plan.

“Jessie, my publicist, was like, ‘We need to figure out a way to release this,’” he recalled. “And I said, ‘When she shows up at the ACMs looking like she’s smuggling a volleyball in her dress, it’s gonna be pretty obvious!’”

That same night, Johnson also confirmed they were expecting a baby boy — a long-awaited dream for the Texas native who’s been a proud “girl dad” for years.

A Sweet (and Funny) Pregnancy Reveal

Before making the news public, Brandi found a creative way to surprise Cody with the pregnancy. As he recalled, she asked him to help unload her truck — under slightly suspicious circumstances.

“She tells me to come out to the barn and help her unload this little bitty box,” he said with a laugh. “Then she says, ‘Oh, and there’s one more thing in there if you can get it.’ It was another small box. I open it, and there’s a pregnancy test inside.”

Once the news sank in, Cody’s first thought was how to tell their daughters — a moment that turned out to be pure joy.

“Clara’s the cry police — she’ll look at you and say, ‘Are you crying?’” he joked. “But when we told them, both girls started crying happy tears. They kept saying, ‘When our baby gets here…’ I told them, ‘Y’all are still kids!’ Then it hit me — I’ve built-in babysitters!”

A Dream Come True for a Cowboy Dad

While Johnson cherishes being a father to his daughters, he admitted he’s long hoped for a son to share his love of the cowboy lifestyle. “I’ve always wanted a little boy to bring up in the same world that made me who I am,” he shared previously.

Cody and Brandi’s love story stretches back to their teen years. She first noticed him back when he was still riding bulls, and a few years later, he finally took notice. After moving in together just a month after their first date, they got engaged a year later and married in 2008.

Recovery and What’s Next

This joyful family milestone comes at a quieter time for the “The Painter” singer. Johnson recently announced that he had to cancel the remainder of his 2025 shows to recover from surgery for a ruptured eardrum.

He’s expected to return to the road sometime in 2026, stronger and ready to perform again — this time with a new baby boy waiting at home.
