Classic Comfort: Timeless Old-Fashioned Goulash

This is more than just a recipe — it’s a memory in a bowl. Growing up, this goulash was one of those warm, hearty meals that brought everyone to the table with a smile.
It’s rich, filling, easy to make, and packed with bold, nostalgic flavors. Whether you’re cooking for your family or prepping a cozy meal for yourself, this dish never fails to satisfy.

Ingredients You’ll Need: • 1 lb (450g) ground beef • 1 small onion, finely chopped • 2 garlic cloves, minced • 1 green bell pepper, diced • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
• 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional for richer flavor) • 1½ cups uncooked elbow macaroni • 1 cup corn (optional, for sweetness and texture) • 2 cups beef broth or water • 1 tsp paprika • ½ tsp Italian seasoning • Salt & pepper to taste • Fresh parsley or shredded cheese (optional garnish)

How to Make It: 1. Brown the beef In a large pot or deep skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess fat. 2. Add aromatics Stir in the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté for 5–6 minutes until soft and fragrant. 3. Build the base Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste (if using), beef broth, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and bring to a gentle simmer.

4. Let it simmer Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the flavors develop beautifully. 5. Add the pasta Stir in the uncooked macaroni and corn. Let the mixture simmer uncovered for another 10–12 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked al dente and the sauce has thickened. 6. Finish & serve Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley or a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese for extra comfort.
