Child actor Melissa Sue Anderson left ‘Little House’ 43 years ago, this is her at 62

Melissa Sue Anderson, best known as Mary Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, left the show in 1981 to explore new roles, including a stark turn in the slasher film Happy Birthday to Me.

After growing tired of her “blind and boring” character, Anderson shifted focus to family life. She married Michael Sloan in 1990, raising two children in Canada, where she now resides.

Though she hasn’t pursued acting in recent years, Anderson remains remembered for her Emmy-nominated role and her autobiography, The Way I See It.
