Grieving widow Erika Kirk has shared an emotional video of her late husband Charlie Kirk telling the story of how they first met, just days after the conservative activist was assassinated at a Utah campus event.
A Love Story Retold
In the throwback clip, Charlie, 31, sits with the couple’s three-year-old daughter on his lap at Bill’s Burgers in New York City, recounting the night he first met Erika in 2018.
“So we’re here at Bill’s Burgers in New York City, and right near this very table is the first time Dada met Mama,” he tells his daughter, gently squeezing her cheeks.
He explained that their first meeting was supposed to be a job interview for Erika, who had applied for a position at Turning Point USA.
“And it started as a job interview and I was asking all these questions, philosophy, religion, Jesus,” he said, smiling.
But the interview quickly turned into something more. “And then I realized Mama was beautiful and smart and elegant and Christ-like. And so, I said, ‘Forget this job interview, I want to date you! I have enough friends.’ And that’s where your journey started.”
Charlie proposed in December 2020, and the couple married in May 2021. Together they had two children: a daughter, now three, and a son, one.
Erika captioned the clip simply: “…my favorite love story.”
A Widow’s Grief
Erika, 36, has spoken only a few times since her husband was fatally shot on September 10 while hosting a Turning Point USA debate at Utah Valley University.
On Friday, she delivered a tearful tribute: “Two days ago, my husband, Charlie, went to see the face of his Savior and his God. One of the final conversations he had on this earth, my husband witnessed for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now and for all eternity he will stand at his Savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.”
On Instagram, Erika shared a longer dedication, paired with a carousel of family photos with Erika and their children, along with several videos and images of Erika grieving over his body.
“The world is evil. But our Savior. Our Lord. Our God. He… He is so good. I will never have the words. Ever,” she wrote.

Tyler Robinson appears cold and silent as he faces charges in Charlie Kirk killing
The man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk made his first court appearance Tuesday, looking disheveled, expressionless, and stone-faced as prosecutors formally charged him with capital murder.
Tyler Robinson, 22, appeared virtually from jail, dressed in a suicide-prevention smock and sitting in a stark room as Judge Tony Graf read the seven felony charges against him, including aggravated murder, discharge of a firearm, and two counts of obstruction of justice, among other crimes.
He nodded occasionally as the judge spoke and only spoke once, when asked to state his name for the record. He otherwise remained stone-faced and silent, showing no emotion even as prosecutors announced they would seek the death penalty.
Robinson’s next hearing is set for September 29, with the judge ordering he remain in custody without bail. Judge Graf also granted a pretrial protective order requested by prosecutors for Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk.
